EOS Costa Rica is a spin-off startup of pioneering company Sistemas Edenia Internacional S.A., incorporated in 1987 and operating as a blockchain infrastructure provider since 2013. We have proudly been in the forefront of disruption, running the first BBS in the country, launching mobile web to Costa Ricans, and now advocating for blockchain’s many assets.

Front End Developer
San Jose, Costa Rica / Remote | SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

EOS Costa Rica is looking for a passionate Frontend Developer to join our team in San Jose, Costa Rica. The Frontend Developer will be responsible for coding and modifying applications according to product specifications.

Responsibilities

– Write well designed, testable, high performance code by using best software development practices
– Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
– Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
– Stay up to date on emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities
– Cooperate with designers to match visual design intent

Qualifications

– Proven experience working with React or other modern Frontend Javascript Framework
– Experience with Node.js and express a plus
– Experience writing frontend unit and integration tests a plus
– Top-notch programming skills and in-depth knowledge of modern HTML/CSS
– A strong understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
– Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem-solving skills
– Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines and budgets with business acumen
– Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques
– Bachelor or masters degree in computer science

What Makes Costa Rica an Ideal Option?

Being the lengthiest democracy in Latin America and having abolished its military in 1948, Costa Rica stands as a country that advocates for peace and liberty. Its technical infrastructure, stable political framework, flexible corporate structure, and defined jurisdiction makes it an opportunistic network available for the censorship-resistant EOS.

Costa Rica has shores in both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans and connects three submarine fiber optic cables – ARCOS-1, MAYA-1, and Pan American Crossing (PAC) – that provide the majority of the bandwidth in the country. This interconnection provides real-time fail-over and redundancy to the EOS Costa Rica infrastructure. Costa Rica is part of the six Central American nations that are interconnected via a terrestrial fiber-optic network (REDCA). Additionally, having direct connections to all upstream carriers allows the country’s network to prevent single-point failures.
